It’s been rumored for almost all of 2021 and earlier. The next Call of Duty game is officially Call of Duty: Vanguard. Thanks to promotional material for the game, we also know the setting is confirmed as World War II. This comes from a Reddit link in the R/CODVanguard subreddit. In the post there’s an image of the likely cover for the game. Additionally, the cover for the Ultimate Edition and Cross-Gen bundle. Finally, the biggest piece besides the title being confirmed, is the Ultimate Edition contents. Check them all out below.
Sledgehammer Games was confirmed earlier this year during an investor’s call from Activision. It’ll also be using the Modern Warfare engine. It should feel pretty similar to Modern Warfare, but we’ll have to see when we get the game in our hands. After the strange and tumultuous development of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it might be better off that Sledgehammer gets an entire development cycle on the game.
Modern Warfare and Warzone changed the way the franchise is viewed these days with more of a focus on that sphere of combat. Will a World War II setting upend that focus?
So, what do you think of it now that Call of Duty: Vanguard is confirmed? Are you into the World War II setting? We’ll have to see more now that the game’s official reveal is right around the corner.
