Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, Tech, Crosshair, and Omega have taken the galaxy far, far away by storm…. And they’re not finished yet. As its first season winds down, Lucasfilm just announced that the gang will return for The Bad Batch Season 2!
Here’s the official announcement:
Today, Disney+ announced the second season of the critically acclaimed animated series “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” which will launch in 2022. “Fans have enthusiastically embraced the action and drama of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” and we are excited to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to expand on Disney+,” said Michael Paull, President of Disney+ and ESPN+. “As the dedicated streaming home for the Star Wars franchise, we can’t wait for the second season of this fan-favorite animated series.”
We first encountered the group of misfit clones in the final Season of The Clone Wars. Together with Anakin Skywalker, they thwarted a major Separatist war strategy and rescued Echo in the process. Following Order 66, however, the group was on their own. The Empire continues to chase them across the galaxy with Crosshair at the lead. Currently, the Empire has Hunter imprisoned…. But that’s likely to change If we’re getting The Bad Batch Season 2.
The Bad Batch Season 2 arrives in 2022
Dave Filoni returns as executive producer, along with a slew of other stalwart Star Wars producers. “The entire Lucasfilm animation team and I would like to thank Disney+ and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch,” Filoni said in a heartfelt statement.
With just a few episodes remains in Season 1, the fate of Clone Force 99 remains a mystery. It seems the Kaminoan search for Omega is no longer a factor based on the last episode, “War-Mantel.” As always though, the Empire remains the looming threat.
The Bad Batch Season 2 will drop on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
