If an earlier report left you worried you wouldn’t see Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn again after The Suicide Squad, you can breathe easy. The actor recently confirmed she’s definitely down to keep picking up the baseball bat for DC.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Robbie told the outlet she “needed a break” from the character. However, she was specifically referring to the intensity of filming Birds of Prey and then James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad so close together.
“It was kind of back-to-back filming Birds… and filming this, so I was kind of like, oof, I need a break from Harley because she’s exhausting,” Robbie told EW in June. “I don’t know when we’re next going to see her. I’m just as intrigued as everyone else is.”
Now, about a month after that statement circulated, Robbie clarified where she stands with Harley moving forward.
“I’ve had enough of a break. I’m ready to do her again,” she said. “I did Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad back-to-back, so that was a lot of Harley all in a one year period, but that was a while ago now. I’m always ready for more Harley!”
So there you have it – whatever Warner Bros. and DC are planning for Harley Quinn, Robbie is ready and willing to jump back into the role. Although at this time, The Suicide Squad is the only obviously Harley-related project in the works. DC’s upcoming films include sequels for Aquaman and Shazam, plus The Flash, Black Adam, and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
Personally, I would definitely be on board for Birds of Prey 2 or a Gotham City Sirens project. (DC, are you listening?)
You can next see Robbie’s Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad, premiering in theaters and on HBO Max August 6.
