Casting is currently underway for a major role in the CW’s Charmed.
The new character, Taryn, is described as a bold, unapologetic street artist. She’s focused on creating political street art, hoping to make a real mark on the world. Her spontaneity and manic energy have resulted in a wild, unpredictable love life and a less-than-stable work life. And despite her chaotic roots, her life experiences have only made her stronger.
The CW is looking for a BIPOC woman in her 20s to mid-30s to play the part. The role is described as a series regular spot, meaning Charmed fans will be seeing a lot of Taryn in the upcoming fourth season.
Which makes us wonder… is Taryn the new Charmed One?
“There is another one. She’s out there.”
The latest season of Charmed ended with a major shakeup: Madeleine Mantock, who played oldest sister Macy, announced her departure from the series. Season 3 ended with her character sacrificing herself to save her sisters (and the world).
“Playing Macy on Charmed for the last three seasons has been an immense privilege and I have so enjoyed working with our fantastic producers, creatives, cast and crew,” Mantock told TVLine. “I’m incredibly grateful to The CW and CBS Studios for my time on the show and for being a brilliant support in my difficult decision to leave. Huge thanks to our fans who can look forward to, what I know will be, a spectacular fourth season.”
For fans of the original Charmed, it’s a bit of déjà vu. Shannen Doherty, who played eldest sister Prue, famously departed the series at the end of season 3 as well. Her character also met with an untimely death.
And though the departures differ fundamentally—Mantock’s break from the series appears amicable, while Doherty infamously left due to conflict with her co-stars—the end result is the same. Charmed needs a new witch to complete the Power of Three.
So, while the casting call doesn’t specifically identify Taryn as the fourth Charmed one, the timing here does make sense. And again, if this new character isn’t the lost witch, you can still expect to see a lot of her in season 4, since she’s definitely a series regular.

The CW announced the next Charmed One would be played by Australian actress Lucy Barrett. And while the Charmed showrunners refused to go into specific detail about Barrett’s character, the hints they’re dropping align perfectly with this character description. I’m hoping the new charmed sister is either younger than Maggie (Bc Paige was younger than Phoebe, I believe.) or is Maggie or Mel’s long lost twin sister. Otherwise it won’t fit honor the original correctly. Because Pru was the oldest and like Macy she died in season 3’s finale. And Mel’s like Piper, because she’s the middle sister who became the older sister after death of eldest child. Maggie like Phoebe was engaged to a half demon and has had 2/3 of the same powers as Phoebe (Though be it out of order). Paige was the youngest and the offspring of her mother’s affair with her white lighter. So, I doubt if there going off of the original charmed that the charecter will be in there 30s, the charecter would have to be somewhere between there late teens and mid 20s. The actor probably could be in there 30s, but the charecter will either be the Maggie’s age or younger.

Still mourning Macy, the most powerful charmed ones with her demonic powers not fully exploited. What a waste… I think, the storyline of the twin sister with a magical embargo is the most reliable than the storyline of a third father …it would be seriously weird from Marisol. Talking about “Taryn”, if she is “the another one”, she looks like Prue (she is an artist, Prue was also working in arts), sensitive and disturbed just like Paige … or, she is will be the new Billie or Marisol’ s niece develooping atonishing powers to bevpart of the charmed ones
In my opinion the new charmed one will not be another Mel and Maggie’s lost sister. She will be one of the surviving charmed ones from the previous battle against the Perfecti, the one where the Perfecti won.
Watching carefully the show it seems like the battle against the Perfecti is recurrent. According to the Perfecti’s memory shown through the mirror in episode 3.14 one set of charmed ones defeated them in the past but in the same episode the Perfecti also say that they will defeat the charmed ones like they did in the past.
What if out of that battle two of the three sisters were killed and one survived and was put in the tomb of chaos by the Perfecti? What if she then found her way out of the same tomb when Mel, Maggie and Macy defeated the Perfecti?
Being Mel, Maggie and this character all charmed ones, even if from different blood line will entitle them to group together and form a new trio.
I like this theory better, and hope so. I thought that Joséfina would be chosen as her appearance out of nowhere was clearly there plus using magic with them before. But if Lucy Barrett is previous CO, she can take away from them not choosing their already a witch prima so say they go this route without choosing random witch or mortal.
