Gina Carano made headlines earlier this year when she posted some controversial comments on social media that led to Disney dismissing her from her role as Cara Dune in The Mandalorian. She’s back in Star Wars news again… Not because of a return to the series, mind you. No, she’s trending again because of other social media users apparently lacking critical observational skills. If you haven’t yet seen it, Carano tweeted a .gif on Sunday that some of her sadly, misguided followers inexplicably mistook for Cad Bane. You can see the tweet below:
There are multiple comments in the thread asking if the figure in the post was Cad Bane. There’s even this excited post from “Space Cowboy” that says ” Ummmmmmm Cad Bane!?!?!?!? What are you not telling us! You know something!” First, we’re not going to guess why this person is calling themselves “Space Cowboy.” (Who knows; maybe “Gangster of Love” was already taken.) But, if you’re going to call yourself that, you might maybe want to take a second look at the .gif Gina Carano posted before commenting… Because that is in no way, shape, or form the Duros bounty hunter we know and love.
Misguided fans mistake Gina Carano tweet for Cad Bane
Come on, people. The figure in the tweet is literally wearing what, for all intents and purposes, looks like witch’s hat… and high heels. Don’t even get us started on the flowing capri pants. We get that Twitter images on mobile devises can be small, but still. If you are mistaking the figure Gina Carano tweeted for Cad Bane of Star Wars, we suggest that you might want to see an optometrist.
Bane did, of course, recently reappear in Star Wars in Dave Filoni’s latest, animated series, The Bad Batch. His return came to the delight of many fans who felt his story went unfinished. It’s even sparked debate about whether or not he had his infamous duel with Boba Fett. But one thing is certain: That is not Cad Bane traipsing through the Gina Carano Twitter feed.
If you really want to see Bane, go check him out in The Bad Batch, airing Fridays on Disney+.
