The Girls are Back (Without Samantha) in First Look of “And Just Like That…”

The cameras have just started rolling in NYC on the new HBO Max Sex and the City spin-off series, And Just Like That… Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are all reprising their roles in the new show. Of course, as has been reported many times before, Kim Cattrall will not be returning with the girls. Here is the logline for And Just Like That…

The new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series “Sex and the City,” follows “Carrie” (Sarah Jessica Parker), “Miranda” (Cynthia Nixon) and “Charlotte” (Kristin Davis) as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.

The series also stars Sara Ramírez, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson and Evan Handler.   

As much as I love the original show (and even the first film), Sex and the City 2 left a horrible taste in my mouth. And with Kim Cattrall not returning, I can’t say that my expectations are all that high for And Just Like That… Cattrall was the shining star of the original series, so her presence will surely be missed. But, I am holding out hope that the showrunners will give us something, fresh and new with this show. And hopefully update it to our more modern sensibilities.

And Just Like That… does not not have a release date yet, but is expected sometime at the end of 2021.
