HBO has just dropped the first official teaser for their new limited series Scenes from a Marriage. The series is adapted from Ingmar Bergman’s classic Swedish miniseries and directed by Hagai Levi (HBO’s “In Treatment” and “Our Boys,” “The Affair”). It is produced by Media Res and Endeavor for HBO. Starring Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Ex Machina”) and Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty” and “Molly’s Game”) the limited series:

“re-examines the original’s iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple.“

This is another production that has gone through a bit of turmoil due to delays because of COVID-19. It was all set set to star Michelle Williams, who had to depart the project because of scheduling conflicts. But, Scenes From a Marriage is now all set to premiere in our homes in just a couple of months.

Well, this is sure to sweep the Emmy’s next year! Ingmar Bergman is one of the most influential voices in all of cinema and the talent involved here surely promises something very special. Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain are two of Hollywood’s biggest stars and Hagai Levi has given us some of HBO’s most recent winners. This continues the channel’s commitment to prestige programming and constantly giving something for their viewers to talk about. Though Scenes From a Marriage doesn’t look like the easiest of series to watch, I have no doubt it will be a rewarding experience.

Scenes from a Marriage will premiere on HBO and their streaming platform HBO Max, September 2021.
