Netflix is expanding its adult animation slate with a new upcoming dark comedy, The House. Today the streamer announced an impressive creative team and initial voice cast for the anthology series.
The House comes from directors Emma de Swaef, Marc Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr, and Paloma Baeza. The creatives are regarded as top names in stop motion animation.
Described as “an eccentric dark comedy,” The House tells three surreal tales of the individuals who made it their home. Nexus Studios (This Way Up, Back to The Moon) produces the series.
During the WIP Session at the Annecy International Film Festival, Netflix announced the voice cast for the first three episodes of the series. Check out the actors for each chapter below:
- From filmmakers Emma de Swaef & Marc James Roels, the Chapter One voice cast includes: Claudie Blakley, Matthew Goode, Mia Goth, Mark Heap, Miranda Richardson, Josh McGuire, and Stephanie Cole.
- Chapter Two, from filmmaker Niki Lindroth von Bahr, includes voice cast: musicians Jarvis Cocker and Dizzee Rascal, and Yvonne Lombard and Sven Wollter.
- Chapter Three, from filmmaker Paloma Baeza, includes voice cast: Helena Bonham-Carter, Paul Kaye, and Will Sharpe.
A statement from Netflix reads:
“No two Netflix adult animated shows are the same and that’s how we like it. From comedy mainstays like Big Mouth and F Is for Family, to uncharted storytelling experiences like The Midnight Gospel – there’s something for everyone. And we’re excited to expand our slate and push the boundaries of what’s possible in adult animation.”
Expect more news about Netflix animation to drop today as Annecy International Film Festival continues.
