Last week we talked about the Black Cat film. This week, we’re bringing you an update on Justice League Dark, and in particular, Deadman.
Warner Bros. is moving towards Justice League Dark. Although they are trying the approach similar to Marvel’s Avengers films, by introducing the Justice League Dark characters in their own movies before putting them in a team-up.
We already know that Emerald Fennell is working on a Zatanna movie. However, DC and Warner Bros. are working hard to bring more characters to the big screen, and introduce them in a way where each film is unique and fresh, but also works towards a larger narrative.
We can exclusively share that a Deadman movie is next in DC’s development slate for Justice League Dark films. The movie will explore the character’s origin, his murder, and his attempts to discover who murdered him and bring his murderer to justice.
What’s The Holdup For Deadman?
The script has been in development for the past two years. As with many projects, they were hoping to be farther along than they are, but COVID-19 delayed parts of the process. They’re now in the process of finding a director. The short-list of Directors includes Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel and Hansel), Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), and Brandon Cronenberg (Antiviral, Possessor).
There’s no casting yet. The studio is preparing to find an actor who can emote and act through CGI and makeup similar to Andy Serkis or Doug Jones.
Once a director has been hired the project is expected to be formally announced.
