The sequel to the Oscar Nominated Boss Baby is releasing day in date with theaters on Peacock. The Boss Baby: Family Business stars Alec Baldwin, Jeff Goldblum, Ariana Greenblatt, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Eva Longoria, James Mardsen, and Amy Sedaris. Universal announced earlier today that the film would come directly to Peacock and theaters beginning July 2nd. It was previously set to release on September 17th, 2021.
Jim Orr, President Domestic Distribution, Universal Pictures had this to say about the move:
Families are at the heart of our decision today to make DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby: Family Business available to everyone this July Fourth weekend, and to give those families the freedom to choose whether to see this joyful, hilarious and heartfelt film from a big-screen theater seat or from the comfort of their own homes on Peacock.
Trolls: World Tour showed off early in the pandemic that animated features had major staying power in the direct-to-consumer market for film. Animated films are among the most watched on Peacock. Shrek and Trolls: World Tour are among the most watched. The original Boss Baby grossed over $500 million worldwide and was nominated for an Oscar. The sequel goes straight to Peacock at no extra charge for Premium customers in the US.
