The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is now expanding more for the first ever permanent location for its flagship store at New York City. It’s opening up real soon on June 3rd. When the new store opens up and for those who are missing Universal Orlando or Hollywood for your Harry Potter post depression and can now try the first ever Butterbeer bar at the new store! With over 21,000 square feet of retail space, it spans three floors. The store’s location is at 935 Broadway, New York, NY 10010.
Actress Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) showed off some of the concoctions at the new location. Vegan bottled (to take home with), draft and Butterbeer ice cream. Butterbeer is no new thing as it’s been part of Universal Parks & Resorts since 2010 and over at the Warner Bros. Studio London Tour, but this is the first time in New York City.
Lynch said her favorite is the bottled Butterbeer for being vegan.
“I tried it today for the first time.” “I like how refreshing it is and it’s vegan, which is important to me…I’m really pleased that I got to try it. I have tried the other Butterbeers but it’s very similar—but never in a bottle. It’s more of a souvenir.”
In speaking with TimeOut
The bottled Butterbeer has designs by MinaLima who have created thousands of art and graphic props for the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films and will be exclusive to the store (sorry Universal fans). The beverage is made and brewed over in the U.K. and now popular than ever.
For the Fantastic Beasts films, there’ll be as an exclusive label inspired by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America) featuring reds, whites and blues reminiscent of the U.S. flag and with Butterbeer insignias. The label is only for opening day on June 3rd.
A Deeper Look At The Butterbeer Bar
When fellow witches and wizards first enter the bar area, thousands of glowing Butterbeer bottles rise and float over the bar as part of the whole experience. Copper piping is part of the decorations to get that illusion that the Butterbeer is flowing through the pipes. There will also be a take out window location you can order your Buttebeer from.
Wizarding sweet treats will be available to purchase behind the counter, Harry Potter themed designed cookies that range from sorting hands to wands, Hedwig the Owl and froggy cupcakes.
The seating area features graphics with details from the Wizarding newspaper The Daily Prophet. They were created by MinaLima from the franchise films that Lynch show off off on the store’s Instagram account.
