The latest book in the Star Wars: The High Republic novels, The Rising Storm, seems to be getting some hype. Or at least, the publishers want to drum some up. How else do you explain the release of this excerpt?

Facing Jedi on 1 vs 1 odds? Either they’re really dumb, or really confident they can win this.

Del Rey, courtesy of StarWars.com, is officially unveiling this fairly lengthy excerpt from the prologue for Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott. Cavan Scott had previously written Star Wars: The High Republic – The Great Jedi Rescue. He is currently writing the Star Wars: The High Republic comic book with Ario Anindito as the artist, and the upcoming graphic novel Star Wars: The High Republic – The Monster of Temple Peak, with Rachel Stott being the artist. Considering the positive reviews he’s gotten, it bodes pretty well for The Rising Storm.

Unfortunately, Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm isn’t actually out yet. However, you can preorder the novel on Penguin Random House for $29.99. That way, you can read it when it comes out on June 29, 2021.

Just noticed the crossguard lightsaber here. Why don’t they make more of them anyways?

You can read the full version of the excerpt of Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm‘s prologue on StarWars.com, but here’s a summary for those who are lazy. The excerpt introduces us to Jedi Master Elzar Mann. Master Mann seems to be plagued by rather peculiar nightmares as of late. Nightmares involving people he knows and people he doesn’t dropping like flies. Trouble by this, he goes on a long swim to get some answers. Underwater, mind you.

A short and unexpected comic about sleeping with fishes.
With Subnautica music playing in the background to boot.

Well, during this aquatic meditation in Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm, Master Mann still doesn’t get any answers. Instead, his new vision tells him to go to a planet called Valo to get some answers. Yes. His reward for nearly drowning himself is to basically find out that his answer is in another castle. Thank you, Force. You have been most helpful.

You've been very "helpful".
My opinion of the Force after reading that excerpt.
