Top Gun was a massive hit when it originally released in theaters on May 16th, 1986. It lit up the box office and cemented Tom Cruise as a gargantuan star. Through it’s over-masculine stylings and fantastic soundtrack headlined by Kenny Loggins, the film was truly a spectacle. Now, 35 years later, we’re getting a re-release of the film in over 150 Dolby Cinemas at AMC across the US for one week. Starting May 13th, you can check out Top Gun in the best quality possible.
For those who can’t make it to the theaters, the film is also available on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-Ray. You get hours of extra content with these releases. Including a featurette that explores the legacy and popularity of the film through interviews with the cast and crew.
Also, Top Gun: Maverick releases November 19th, 2021. So it’s looking like 2021 is the year of Top Gun.
