Happy birthday Simu Liu, and happy Shang-Chi teaser day to MCU fans!
In honor of Liu’s birthday, Marvel dropped the first teaser for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings today. Check it out below:
This is our first real look at the film, and the teaser definitely delivers! It seems like the action and fight choreography in Shang-Chi will really blow us away.
And while it’s a superhero film, it’s also a family drama. The teaser hints at the strained relationship between our hero and his father, who trained him to fight from a young age.
“The most exciting thing about stepping into this character was that his backstory has never been told before,” Liu told Entertainment Weekly. “We know so many different versions of Batman’s origin story, how his parents were murdered when he was very young. We know Peter Parker, who was bitten by a radioactive spider, and he loses his uncle. Shang-Chi’s story is very much unknown to most of the world, so we had a lot of freedom and creative liberty to make it the way that we wanted to.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings releases September 3.
