It is with great sadness that I must inform you that another Star Wars veteran, Fellix Silla, has now passed from this world and has become one with the Force.
This news of Felix Silla’s passing came to us courtesy of his longtime friend of over 40 years and fellow actor Gil Gerard. According to his Tweets, Mr. Silla had been suffering from pancreatic cancer. He went into hospice care today on April 16, 2021; and passed away on the same day. Silla was 84 years of age at the time of his passing. May he rest in peace.
Felix Silla: His Life & Times
Felix Silla was an Italian-born American actor and stuntman. Due to his short stature, he has often doubled for children in movies such as The Towering Inferno, The Hindenburg, and Battlestar Galactica. Overall, Silla was best known for playing as Cousin Itt in The Addams Family (1964), with fellow actor Anthony Magro supplying the voice.
However, for Star Wars fans, Felix Silla is best known for a brief role in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. Silla actually played one of the little, furry Ewoks. Specifically, he played a yellowish-brown Ewok with white cheeks and a simple brown hoodie. This particular Ewok also was one of the ones who flew in on crude hang gliders, with the goal of dropping rocks on Imperial stormtroopers and AT-STs alike.
Conclusion
On April 16, 2021 Felix Silla, stuntman and veteran Star Wars actor, passed away and became one with the Force. Star Wars tells us that the Force flows through all living things. Perhaps too, the characters Silla played over the years will mourn his passing just as we do.
