There’s no shortage of sports dramas out there, but there’s also never been one quite like Big Shot before.
The Disney+ series follows a diverse group of girls on an elite high school basketball team. We sat down with three of the stars (Tisha Custodio, Tiana Le, and Cricket Wampler), who told us exactly why Big Shot is so special.
“It touches on a lot of topics, especially with girls in sports, because there’s not a lot of shows especially with girls in basketball,” explained Le.
“It’s the perfect family show, and it touches on subjects that aren’t highlighted as much as they should be,” said Custodio.
“If you wanna see real girls with real problems learning real lessons, this is the show for you!” added Wampler.
Or as Le simply puts it, “It really just is that good!”
Check out our full interview with the trio to learn more about their Big Shot characters and how basketball shaped each of their lives before the series.
Big Shot follows Coach Korn who, after getting ousted from the NCAA, is given a chance for redemption with a coaching position at an elite private high school. He soon learns that the teenage players require empathy and vulnerability — foreign concepts for the stoic coach. By learning how to connect with his players, Marvyn starts to grow into the person he’s always hoped to be. The girls learn to take themselves more seriously, finding their footing both on and off the court.
Big Shot premieres on Disney+ Friday, April 16.
