Another Mark Millar comic is headed to the big screen. 20th Century Studios tapped Joe Cornish to write and direct their adaptation of Starlight.
Cornish is best known for directing the John Boyega feature Attack the Block. He recently directed The Kid Who Would Be King for Netflix. Cornish also previously ventured into superhero feature writing with Marvel’s Ant-Man. So, he seems pretty well positioned to take on this comic adaptation.
Starlight was a six-issue limited edition comics series written by Millar. Image Comics published the series back in 2014.
Starlight tells the story of a hero who saved the universe 35 years ago. But when Duke McQueen came back to Earth, no one believed his story. Eventually, he married, had kids, and settled down into old age. Then his old spaceship turns up, and Duke McQueen heads out on one more fantastic adventure.
Several of Millar’s properties have been adapted before. From Wanted to Kick-Ass and the Kingsman films. His series Jupiter’s Legacy will soon drop its first season on Netflix.
Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, and Nira Park all serve as producers on the Starlight feature.
So, what do you think of Cornish adapting and directing Starlight? Are you a big Millar comics fan? Let us know in the comments.
