So, it looks like we finally get to see what the live-action version of The Powerpuff Girls look like. So here they are in all their glory:
These set photos from the upcoming The Powerpuff Girls live-action series comes to us courtesy of TMZ. As you can see, the girls are in some very simple outfits. They appear to be one-piece, color-coded dresses. They’re secured with equally as simple black belts at the waits, and come equipped with nearly knee-length stockings. Sure, some people might deride these outfits as being overly simple. However, fans of the original Powerpuff Girls will remember that the girls wore similarly simple outfits in the cartoon.
The Simple Powerpuff Girls: Always Faithful
As you can see, the outfits Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles are wearing in the live-action The Powerpuff Girls are pretty faithful to the original cartoon. Heck, even their hairstyles and accessories are faithful to the old show. Sure, Buttercup’s hair in the live-action version doesn’t look quite the same, but unless she uses copious amounts of hair gel, it’d be hard to get that look down anyways. I mean, seriously, the original Buttercup must spend a surprising amount of time and money perfecting those upward-pointing hair curls.
Not only that, but TMZ also has video footage of The Powerpuff Girls apparently in the middle of an action scene. We see Blossom fly into the air on a harness as Bubbles and Buttercup runs past her. It’s pretty easy to imagine the energy and intensity of the scene when we finally get to the see the finalized version.
Conclusion
The Powerpuff Girls just gave us their first look at the girls’ costumes in The CW’s live-action adaptation/sequel series. The simplistic style of their outfits harkens back to the original cartoon. So far, it looks like it’s keeping pretty faithful to the original series. It’s looking pretty hopeful for the series when it eventually releases…someday.
