You never know what you will learn about Star Wars when following Mark Hamill’s Twitter page. From behind the scenes information to filming issues Hamill shares a lot of amazing facts and history about Star Wars. Well, today Mark Hamill responded to a tweet from Twitter user @tooninwithmetv that shared an interesting fact about the Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-half Century cartoon starring Daffy Duck. Not only was Duck Dodgers ranked number 4 of the 50 greatest cartoons, but it also seems that George Lucas requested it to be shown before Star Wars for every screening.
George really did want this classic Daffy Duck cartoon shown before every screening of #SW. It would’ve been an icebreaker to let the audience know what was coming was less than dead serious. I was disappointed when we couldn’t get the rights to it & it didn’t happen. #TrueStory
How great would that of been to see Duck Dodgers before every Star Wars screening? I mean you can never go wrong with the Looney Tunes especially Daffy Duck. It is a shame that George Lucas wasn’t able to make that happen. But it could also have a been good thing, who knows Warner Bros could have ended up owning Star Wars.
