The CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls series just found its Professor.
Donald Faison will play Professor Drake Utonium, the scientific genius who created the Powerpuff Girls in his lab.
In the new series, Faison’s Professor is described as “quirky, debonair, and a pinch narcissistic.” For him, the show picks up as he stares down a midlife crisis, trying to repair his relationship with his now adult daughters.
Faison joins the series alongside the previously announced Powerpuff trio, including Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup.
The CW series (now titled just Powerpuff) serves as a live-action followup to Craig McCracken’s successful cartoon. The show catches up to the child superheroes in the present day as disillusioned twentysomethings. The trio resent losing their childhood to crimefighting. But will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?
Faison is best known for his role as Turk on the sitcom Scrubs, as well as movies like Clueless and Remember the Titans.
So, what do you think about Faison as the Professor? Does this casting make you more interested in Powerpuff? Let us know in the comments.
