Funimation seems to have quite the selection of anime planned. The Spring Season looks like it’s going to be a blast, no matter which genre you’re into.

A nice anime wallpaper to greet Funimation's Spring anime season.
What better way to enjoy the spring cherry blossoms than with anime?

Funimation officially announces their Spring lineup of anime series. Most of them are fantasy series, with particular attention to the isekai genre where someone from the modern world gets sent to a fantasy world. There are a few outliers though. We’ve got a few sci-fi series, some historical fiction, and even a horror comedy starring singing and dancing zombie girls. Yes, there’s definitely something in here for everyone. Now let’s take a look:

Funimation Fruits Basket:The Final Season

*Dramatic noises intensifies*

The final season of the Fruits Basket reboot anime series. The drama is real this time, even more so than in the previous seasons. If you’re into supernatural romance dramedies that is nothing like Twilight, this is the anime for you.

Funimation is streaming Fruits Basket here. The first episode of the final season is already up, so you don’t have to wait to watch it.

Combatants Will Be Dispatched!

And now for a different genre entirely.

If you think the humor and characterization of Combatants Will Be Dispatched! feels familiar, then you’ve watched KonoSuba. Both of them are from the same author. If you liked KonoSuba, you’ll likely like this science fantasy comedy anime series as well.

Funimation will simulcast Combatants Will Be Dispatched! on April 4, 2021. We currently have no link though, so check back with Funimation later.

Funimation Megalo Box 2: Nomad

AKA: Real Steel 2: The Anime

Megalo Box is basically an anime about powered exoskeleton boxing. Now we have the second season: Nomad, which shows what happens to such a powered exoskeleton boxing champion after 7 years of disillusionment and drugs.

Funimation will simulcast Megalo Box 2: Nomad on April 4, 2021 here.

Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG is Even Shittier than Real Life!

The longest title for an anime yet?

For convenience purposes, we’ll just shorten this anime’s title to Full Dive. Full Dive takes the typical virtual MMORPG, and turns it into a comedy revolving around such a game that takes realism to absurd and fanatical levels. Hijinks ensue.

Funimation will simulcast Full Dive on April 7, 2021. No link as of this writing though.

Funimation: The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent

One of the rare isekai with a female MC.

Imagine a female office worker gets transported to a fantasy world and decides to become a doctor there. That is The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent in a nutshell. If you’re tired of male main characters in anime, this is the one for you.

Funimation will simulcast The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent on April 6. Still no link though.

MARS RED

You’d think it’d be a sci-fi anime from the title, but…

MARS RED is a vampire anime that takes place in an alternate 1920’s, but with vampires. I sense a similarity with Seraph of the End taking place here. Let’s hope it’s not too similar.

Funimation simulcast MARS RED on April 5, 2021. Still no link though.

Funimation: Dragon Goes House-Hunting

Epic English narrator voice incoming.

An anime about a strangely adorable dragon who goes on a quest to find a good home. Well, what did you expect from a show called Dragon Goes House-Hunting?

Funimation will simulcast Dragon Goes House-Hunting on April 4. Still no link though.

Moriarty the Patriot Part 2

Anyone getting Black Butler vibes?

The second season of Moriarty the Patriot. I’d describe this anime as Black Butler minus the humor, but with a whole bunch more drama and tragedy added.

Funimation will simulcast Moriarty the Patriot on April 4. You can watch the first season here.

Blue Reflection Ray

*Yuri noises intensifies*

Blue Reflection Ray is actually an anime adaptation of a RPG game called Blue Reflection. It’s basically a magical girl show with yuri vibes. Heavy yuri vibes, from the looks of it. Yuri fans rejoice.

Funimation will simulcast Blue Reflection Ray on April 9, 2021. Still no link though.

Funimation Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART!

Not sure what I just watched.

Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART! is a sci-fi comedy anime about female athletes competing in some kind of an interstellar Olympics. Yeah, it’s as bizarre as it sounds. Could be good yuri potential though.

Funimation will simulcast Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART! on April 10. No link though.

How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω

Typical OP male MC incoming.

The second season of a typical fantasy comedy isekai anime about a young man who is taken to a fantasy world with OP powers. You’re not going to find anything revolutionary in How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω.

Funimation will simulcast How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω sometime in spring. No idea when. You can watch the first season here.

Zombie Land Saga Revenge

Zombie idols. Who’d have thought?

Revenge is the long awaited second season of Zombie Land Saga. This is a horror comedy about a group of girls from different time periods a rather strange producer raised from the dead. His goal? To revive Saga prefecture’s dying idol industry by having a zombie idol group. Yeah, it’s as bizarre as it sounds, but it’s as fresh as they come.

Funimation will simulcast Zombie Land Saga Revenge sometime in spring. You can watch the first season here.

Black Clover Season 4

No trailer, but here’s a making-of video.

The fourth and final season of Black Clover. Hopefully, this won’t go past the elf war arc. The manga’s story quality dropped dramatically after that point, and I don’t want to see the anime go the same route.

Funimation is currently simulcasting Black Clover season 4. You can watch it here.

One Piece

Took you guys long enough.

The One Piece anime finally makes its way to the not-Japanese land of Wano. It’s still trailing far behind the manga. But well, better late than never.

Funimation is currently simulcasting the Wano arc of One Piece. You can watch it here.

Back Arrow

Sci-fi or fantasy? You decide.

Back Arrow is a rather peculiar mecha anime that takes place on a continent surrounded by a giant wall. The world seems to be more like a fantasy world than a sci-fi world. So…science fantasy mecha anime?

Funimation is currently simulcasting Back Arrow. You can watch it here.

Kingdom Season 3

So much yelling…and blood.

The third season of the critically acclaimed Kingdom anime. It’s a story about a soldier living in China’s Warring States period. It’s historical fiction at its finest here.

Funimation is currently simulcasting Kingdom season 3. You can watch it here.
