The role of Kate Kane was made famous by Ruby Rose. Her performance in the first season of Batwoman made the character a huge favorite among some fans in the CW universe of shows. For the second season, Ruby Rose dropped the mantle of Batwoman to Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder. Rose had a nasty on-set injury that added to her departure.
However, in the time in season two, the show hasn’t given up on the character of Kate Kane. Deadline is reporting that actress Wallis Day is stepping into the role. That doesn’t mean that Leslie is dropping the cowl to her anytime soon though. This is still her show. The second half of the second season will explain just how Kate disappeared and where she’s been.
That’s sure to be a disappointment to fans of Ruby Rose and people who just wanted to see the spotlight fully on Wilder. The explanation in-show is that she’s had grievous injuries and is bandaged up. Wallis Day is coming from the set of Infinite, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
So, what do you think of Batwoman recasting Kate Kane? Would you have liked to see Ruby Rose return instead?
