Well. Rob Zombie is doing The Munsters. The classic sitcom monster family is coming to the big screen. Rob Zombie’s films have ranged from deranged to more deranged, so it’s a strange thought of what he would do with The Munsters. The original series ran from 1964 to 1966, but found a second life in syndication. Friend of THS, Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse was the first one with this news.
Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips are the first two people cast as Lily and Herman Munster respectively. Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia, and Richard Brake are on for major roles. Cassandra Peterson, AKA Elvira, is also in the film as a supporting role.
There’s no release date for the film, but the mind goes wild thinking what Rob Zombie can do with this idea. The original series might be lighthearted and fun, but Rob Zombie’s films are never like that. He wrote the screenplay as well, so if you’re a fan of Zombie, this is going to be the film for you. Production begins in Budapest in early May, so we’ll get a look at how everything should be, at that time.
What do you think of this news? Is Rob Zombie the right person to bring The Munsters to the big screen?
