As far as Pokemon remakes go, the (pun completely intended) gold standard is HeartGold and SoulSilver. Those games fetch massive prices on the Nintendo DS for good reason. They’re the best that the Pokemon series can offer. Now we have a chance for a new contender. At the Pokemon Direct today, Nintendo and Game Freak announced Pokemon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The original games released all the way back in 2006, so it’s safe to say that fans have been clamoring for this, for a very long time. Check out the trailer below.
For fans of the original games, you can rest easy after that trailer. Pokemon: Sword and Shield were a bit divisive with some aspects of the game. If you didn’t like the fully 3D style of those games, this one is the classic Pokemon game style. They’re both heading to the Nintendo Switch in Late 2021.
For now, that’s all we know, but this is incredibly exciting news for Pokemon fans. Diamond and Pearl are part of our childhoods and let’s hope they keep up the fantastic track record of Pokemon remakes set forth by FireRed and LeafGreen.
