Star Wars: Republic Commando is one of my favorite games of all-time. The squad based combat shooter for the Xbox and PC was a game-changer at the time of it’s release in 2005. Now, we can look forward to replaying the single-player campaign on the Nintendo Switch and PS4. It releases for both consoles on April 6th. You can check out the trailer, which is a refresher course on the story, below.
Industry veterans, Aspyr Media is doing the ports. The game’s story is set between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. That time period was later documented in the Clone Wars animated show.
Sadly, the multiplayer mode will not be returning. That’s a small price to pay for the excellent single-player on modern consoles. Aspyr Media has a good track record with Star Wars ports, like the Knights of the Old Republic ports to mobile platforms.
We’re still left wanting more from the Republic Commando series, but this is hopefully the start of something more for those characters.
So, what do you think of these ports of Republic Commando?
