Jamie Foxx is bringing a new family comedy to Netflix.
Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, an upcoming comedy series, is inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with his own daughter. Check out the official series description from Netflix below:
Brian Dixon (Foxx), successful business owner and bachelor, just unexpectedly became a full-time father to his teenage daughter Sasha (Kyla-Drew). Determined to turn over a new leaf, Brian’s going to need all the help he can get from his dad (David Alan Grier) and sister (Porscha Coleman). And Sasha’s going to need all the help she can get learning how to fit into her new, lovingly imperfect home.
The sitcom reunites Foxx with Bentley Kyle Evans, co-creator of The Jamie Foxx Show. He serves as showrunner on Dad Stop Embarrassing Me. Black-ish’s Ken Whittingham directs the show. Together, the trio serve as executive producers on the series. (Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx also earns an EP credit.)

While we don’t have a trailer or further information yet, the pictures provide an interesting insight into this show. Visually, it looks very much like a standard cable sitcom – not really what Netflix is known for. The streamer must be trying to branch out into new territories.
The first season of Dad Stop Embarrassing Me includes eight 30-minute episodes. It premieres April 14 on Netflix.
