Dustin Diamond, who was best known in his career for playing Samuel “Screech” Powers on the show Saved By The Bell, died Monday morning due to cancer. He was 44. His life might be parodied and joked about because the character that he was known for, but it’s always a time for mourning when someone who was talented dies. He was diagnosed with carcinoma just three weeks ago. His reps had this to say about it.

In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.

His early career was defined by Saved By The Bell. He starred in the main series and some of it’s spinoffs like The College Years and The New Class. His career after that was filled with roles where he played himself or versions of himself like in Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. The reality show circuit was really where he made his career post-Saved By The Bell. He was the star or a featured player on shows like Celebrity Boxing and Celebrity Fit Club.

He was 44, let’s all remember Diamond for the fun and entertainment he gave us through his life.

RIP
