It’s the show that started it all… and soon you can stream it on Disney+. The Muppet Show hits the platform in February.
Jim Henson’s iconic variety series debuted classic characters in 1976 that are still culturally relevant today. From Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy to Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the Swedish Chef, The Muppet Show blends these now iconic faces with sketch comedy and original songs.
Even more exciting? Fans will get to revisit episodes they haven’t seen in quite some time. All 5 seasons of The Muppet Show will stream on Disney+. Before this, seasons 4 and 5 had never been released on home entertainment.
“It’s going to be great to welcome back longtime fans, and to give a new generation of fans a chance to see how we got our start, how Miss Piggy became a star and so much more,” said Kermit the Frog. “Today, I’m proud to say: ‘It’s time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!’ And as for Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony, I can only add: ‘Sorry, guys, but….here we go again.”
In addition to your muppet favs, the series was known for its celebrity guests, including Steve Martin, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Gene Kelly, and Mark Hamill.
Disney+ is shaping up to be the most “Muppetational” streaming service out there. You can also watch favorites like Muppet Treasure Island and The Muppet Christmas Carol on the platform. Plus, Disney+ has an original series Muppets Now. Check out all the Muppets content streaming on Disney+ here.
You can stream The Muppet Show on Disney+ starting February 19.
