We don’t know much about Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman graphic novels. But now we’re adding some MAJOR casting to our little pile of information. Discussing Film reports Gwendoline Christie is in the series.

No confirmation yet as to who Christie might play in the live-action adaptation. The only other casting we’ve heard about is for the lead role. Tom Sturridge will play Dream/Morpheus. But if she appears in a major role, we can assume it will be as one of the other Endless (Destiny, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction).

Whatever the specific role, this latest casting only further solidifies Christie as a huge name for genre fans. Of course, she starred in Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth. She’s also appeared in the Star Wars and Hunger Games franchises (as Captain Phasma and Commander Lyme respectively.)

Christie recently starred in another Gaiman production. She played the soldier-queen in the recent radio adaptation of The Sleeper and the Spindle.

Allan Heinberg (Grey’s Anatomy) serves as showrunner for Netflix’s Sandman series. He will also serve as a writer. (Heinberg previously co-wrote the Wonder Woman screenplay with Zach Snyder.)

While we don’t yet have a release date for the Netflix series, Gaiman himself said it would be set in 2021.

So, which Sandman role do you hope to see Christie play? Let us know in the comments.

Meanwhile, check back to THS for more updates.
