Turns out, a whole lot of people agree that Kaguya-sama: Love is War is the top anime of 2020. And if there’s one thing you can trust, it’s a poll involving tens of thousands of people.

Welp, here’s ten more anime for me to add to my “Must Watch” list.

Anime Corner recently conducted a poll for the Top 10 Anime of the Year for 2020. 47,323 people participated in this poll, which should really give a pretty accurate count here. And finally, according to 6.86% of these people (~3,246), the winner is the second season of the insanely hilarious (or is that hilariously insane?) romantic comedy Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Let’s all give it up for our favorite duo: Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane!

The anime that make you laugh until you burst, and cry your eyes out immediately afterwards.

Top 2020 Anime Runner-Ups

Basically a list of the Top 10 Must-See Anime of 2020.
Just because Kaguya-sama won doesn’t mean the rest are bad.

In second place on that Anime Corner poll, we have Kakushigoto: My Dad’s Secret Ambition. This heart-warming slice of life anime is about a father trying to keep his job as an erotic manga artist a secret from his young daughter. Consider that this show got 6.13% of the votes, compared to Kaguya-sama‘s 6.86%. It’s definitely worth checking out.

A bit like Yotsuba, but if the dad had a really embarrassing job.

Third place on that poll goes to the second season of Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World. This particular anime is a deconstruction of the typical isekai fantasy story, but with a time-traveling twist reminiscent of the game Undertale. While the show may “only” have earned 4.94% of the votes, there’s no denying that it deserves that third place.

I see dead people. Lots of them.

As for the remaining seven anime on this poll, well, you can check them out more or less at your leisure. Or depending on your tastes. Whichever comes first.

Definitely getting Black Butler vibes from this one.
Blade Runner: The Anime?
Psychonauts meets Sherlock Holmes?
Strange, the plot looks standard, but I guess it’s better than it first appears.
Hmm, a typical story about an overpowered hero. At least, that what it seems to be at first.
Well, at least Asuna’s back. Maybe she’ll even be a main character.
Seems like a better story than SAO. How did it get 10th place?

Conclusion

Kaguya-sama: Love is War definitely deserves to be the best anime of 2020. At least, according to this poll. That doesn’t mean that the runner-up selections are bad though. If you’re a fan of anime, I highly recommend almost all of them to you. Who knows? You might even get hooked on anime in general.
