Since the sequel trilogy debuted with The Force Awakens in 2015, Star Wars fans have been talking about the potential “bromance” between Poe Dameron and Finn. As we know, the characters did not, in fact, pair up, despite some fans’ attempts to ship the couple into existence. As it turns out though, Oscar Isaac is still part of one of the best Star Wars bromances there is…. It’s just off screen. We’re of course talking about his close friendship with fellow Star Wars actor, Pedro Pascal.
While Isaac serve three tours as Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, Pascal currents rules the galaxy far, far away as Din Djarin, a/k/a “the Mandalorian.” (Isaac even once claimed responsibility for Pedro Pascal taking the role in The Mandalorian.) The pair appeared together in the Netflix original film Triple Frontier, but their close friendship extends well beyond their time together on screen. They most recently rang in 2021 together at Isaac’s home this New Year’s Eve.
Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal – best bromance in Star Wars
Isaac’s wife, filmmaker Elivra Lind, posted the playful photo above showing the two friends bidding 2020 a wholehearted goodbye on New Year’s Eve. Isaac is still sporting his longer hair and beard as he dons in the upcoming Dune as Leto Atreides I. (You’ll be able to see Dune in 2021 directly on HBO/Max.) You can catch Pedro Pascal, on the other hand, in Wonder Woman: 1984, in theaters and also currently showing on the streaming service.
Sadly, there is still a lot of negativity surrounding the Star Wars franchise (whether it’s fan reaction to Kathleen Kennedy or other aspects of the Disney era of Star Wars). It’s therefore nice to see something so positive as a close friendship among two of the franchise’s star actors.
And let’s not forget: Pedro Pascal now finds himself as half of another, hopefully burgeoning Star Wars bromance. That’s the one between the two Mandalorian armor-wearing bounty hunters, Din Djarin and Boba Fett. Hopefully we haven’t seen the last of those two pairing up and wreaking havoc in the Outer Rim.
So, happy New Year, Star Wars fans, and thank you, Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal. Your infectious friendship is a great way to start the new year off right.
