The Star Wars love continues on Twitter today, with tweets from Ming-Na Wen and Mark Hamill. As a fan, it has been great seeing the energy and passion coming from these actors on Twitter. Hamill, a few days ago tweeted about how grateful he was to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni on the Luke Skywalker Cameo in the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. Then Hamill tweets how he is just overwhelmed from all the fan reactions to Luke’s return! Then today he replied to Ming-Na Wen’s tweet on how inspirational & impactful Hamill was in her life!
“So this happened & I’m literally speechless, other than to say: the pleasure was all mine @MingNa! Much love Mar-camel, @themandalorian #YoureNotSoBadYourself“
Source: Mark Hamill
It is great seeing all this energy and love coming back to Star Wars! Especially from Mark Hamill. Fans from all over the galaxy are hoping to see him return to conventions. Also, it is amazing seeing the impact he has had on fellow Star Wars actors like Ming-Na Wen! I hope we see them meet again in the future!

Aewsome!! May the FORCE be with them.
I wish that there was a way to accurately count how many old ass men(like myself) that were reduced to tears during “The Rescue”. I’m fairly certain that I wasn’t the only….mature fan that experienced tears of joy;)
Iβm 51, you were not alone.
I am a woman and I was close to tears but definitely jumping up and down!
48. We are in the same boat. Love this show, the universe of Star Wars!!
I’m 57 ,,,,,,Mando say -Open the door, she replied ( Are you crazy) too cool
58 here and I was in tears.
36 here and i swear someone was cutting onions near me during that scene.
I have watched that episode over 5 times. Pedro Pascal deserves an Emmy.
Luke? Even if digital… what they did to his voice!!! And giving him… HIS POWERS!!! Thank you Favreau and Filoni!!!
I was in tears before I even realized it . I saw the first one in ’77 and have been a full out Luke Skywalker fan ever since .
I am SO GLAD to see the tenderness of fatherhood and men’s natural devotion to children displayed in this episode! We ALL need this so much right now!!! Thank you so much for the vulnerability of Pedro Pascal, who allows the combination of deep tough training and the earmarks of discipline that comes with it, to be interlaced with feelings, emotional ties, loyalty and the nuance that comes from allowing one’s self direction to be taken over by the pretty uncontrollable fate that comes day by day, step by step, with love.
As a single father to a 3 year old boy I couldn’t agree with you more. You can love and cherish your kid and still feel like a badass haha
46 here..same..tears of nostalgia!
53 the other day, 62 at the time and heβll yes tears!! My family joined in!!!
Thank you to the entire cast and crew and mark for bringing my entire family fully into βmyβ Star Wars universe!!!!
Tears again!!?
K
I meant 52…
Lol, when we were watching it, I commented to my mom how much they milked the ending for all it was emotionally worth. We were both a little choked up. (I’m 38)
I’m a 48yo woman who grew up on Star Wars. I’m not ashamed to say I was face in my hands, out loud sobbing. β€
Im 48 and shed a few myself
You sir were not alone…
52. And me too.
I was reduced to tears when Mark Hamill, my childhood hero, showed what a hateful guy he really is, even attacking children in his hate. So when seeing that, I had trouble letting go of that reality about him.
I to cried and Iβm a 62 year old woman!
I’m 62 also, and I don’t cry very easily at all, unless something happens to my adult children and grandchildren. Even then, I feel like I have to keep it together for them. But I watch the Disney Plus shows by myself. And I keep a box of tissues nearby, too! I didn’t cry this much when I was a young girl!
46 years old. But I swear I didnβt cry! I had uh, dust, yeah, dust in my eye!
I’m 64 the thrill of seeing Luke with Gorgu was along with Mando the best thing to date for this wonderful Series that has been created! I’ve watched the movies & now watching the Streaming series on Disney+ and gotta say “THRILLED” , not to mention also in this Scene MING NA-WEN whom I loved in “AGENTS OF SHIELD” being an equally BADASS in the series!!! Please don’t stop the THRILLS & STORIES!!!
πππππ
51, ride a haley, a “manly man”.. reduced to a blubbering mess crying for joy watching Luke’s return in the Mandalorian Finale. SW fan since I walked out of the theater in 77. SW movies and the expanded universe help me in the early years of my journey of recovery from drugs and alcohol. Luke was the example floating in the back of my brain at all times, that gave me hope and an example to strive for.
Alone you were not. 63 am I. From judging the style of combat of the hooded figur I knew it had to be Luke and my emotions light up. βThat is the wayβ- much appreciation and love
62 here, and I may or may not have shed some tears. I may or may not have punched the air. Ha! Of course I did.
Not to be a hater or anything but why does it have to be Luke? I know all of the fan boys are mad at how Luke was portrayed in episodes 7 & 8 but can we change it up, like I donβt know say Mace Winu was still alive or even bring in Cal Kestice from the fallen order video game. (Iβm against brining Ezera Bridger into the mandolorian though because he is just like Luke, a Jedi that barely had 5 minutes of training.) I mean at least both of those Jedi had training, Luke barely had any and he looked way too powerful. He looked as powerful as Vader in rogue one in the end scene. The difference is Vader had more training than Luke but somehow Luke was as powerful as Vader? What the heck guys.
Luke beat Vader in return of the Jedi. Did you see the movies?
Because basically no one past 30 ever played the games or saw the cartoons.
This was for long time die hard fans who have been there since the beginning. Youβve had the games and such. Leave us this moment to enjoy. Iβm sure youβll have your fan favorite cameoβs and you wonβt have to wait forty years for them to be done right
45, cried for joy and , and have watched, nearly, every Star Wars episode/movie possible… Had joy for the entire season, so much fan service. If you’re over 30, and haven’t watched the “kids” stuff IMHO you’re doing yourself a disservice
Thanks for this David! Those of us who were kids & saw Star Wars in the theatre when it first came out (and wore our hair in buns like Leia) have truly been waiting for the katharthis of these Mandalorian ‘movies’ for 40 years. It doesn’t get much better than this. Can’t wait for season 3!!
Luke, in the end was trained by Yoda. Training that anikin (Vader) never received. Luke had also trained in all the Jedi fighting form in which anikin, I believe only master 3 or 4, hence why he couldnβt beat kenobi. In the end, it was the training that won and plus Vader couldnβt cut down his own son, never fully embracing the dark side. I would like for them to bring in other Jediβs but Disney got rid of so many lores and stories and created their own story line making it cannon. So a lot of the Jediβs and Sith Lords showing up is a coin toss now.
Haven’t you listened to Yoda at all? “No more training do you require.” My biggest curiosity in all this is the logistics. Where was the child during all the Rey movies? If they kill him off in a few seasons, I might just be cussing at the show creators. Most of all though, how is Luke going to factor in to the Mandalorian? That’s a lot of CGI that frankly I’m not sure they can pull off. I love Mark Hamill, but I think it might be easier to recast the role if he’s going to be playing a big part. That said, if his presence is limited, it is nice to see them using Mark Hamill in his proper place as Jedi Master. π
Keep in mind that Luke got training from Yoda that others didn’t, notably Vader. Another thing… The Mandalorian episodes take place about 20 years after the Empire fell. So if you’re referring to this particular scene in the season finale, that’s 20 years that he’s had to hone and perfect his Jedi powers. So one would think that, given 2 decades passing, it’s quite plausible that he is indeed as powerful as he was portrayed. In any case, I feel like it was the most fitting conclusion and it may very well open up a multitude of possibilities for next seasons episodes.
And yes… I absolutely admit to having my fangirl tearful moment while watching it lol. Doesn’t matter how old I get (I’m 42), the Star Wars series will always hold a special place in my heart
I think The Mandalorian is about ten years after the fact. But your point is made…
I also teared up (40yrs old) and had an excitement that I haven’t felt since I watched the originals. Something the rest of the films rarely gave me. So, it is possible to bring that old magic back if done correctly. Mandolorian is great!
Isn’t it every father’s dream for his child to surpass him in accomplishments and abilities?
Read a book, maybe? Luke’s training didn’t stop with the movies. He trained everyday of his existence and was extremely powerful. That’s part of the reason fans want recent movies nixed. Also, most assuredly powerful enough to feel the force call that Grogu made from the mountain top at a time when many Jedi were in hiding and brave enough to answer it.
I like your bravery to make this comment immerse in a sea of Luke’s compliments and men tears hehe. And I agree and I think you’re right, makes sense, but, you know, It’s beloved space opera Starwars, so anything can be explained to fit the story. You can asume Luke kept training for some years after Return of the Jedi and of course had A LOT of natural rough talent , also, WE GUESS he was disciplined and found those books and got some good Jedi power chakras out of them..
Also Luke got what no one else got: master Yoda’s private lessons in an exclusive Force-camp lonely-no-distraction place. No cantinas, no strip clubs, no internet, no smartphone. Full time Master Yoda only for him.
Had a cry too with uncontrollable sobbing lol
I am a 64 year old woman and I loved every minute of it. Iβm not going to lie, I was in tears. Not only that Luke Skywalker returned but the love of Gorgu and the Mandalorian. When he took his mask off that did it for me. Canβt wait for season three!!!!!!
I’m 50 and few times in my life have I enjoyed a moment as that one.
Maybe next time leave a spoiler alert tag for those of us who arenβt caught up? Geez.
No. You’ve had time.
Hey dumb dumb, Luke had years of fuqin training so clearly you played yourself right there. He also ran off before training was complete and lost terribly to Vader, you seem to be confusing Luke with trash Rey
Moratorium is long over. Should’ve seen it, out get off of Star wars articles
Maybe next time be a REAL fan, and not a poser that needs a spoiler warning 3-weeks after itβs already aired!! You have NO excuses for why you havenβt seen it yet! I Have Spoken, and This is the Way!!
This is the way
*Likes This*
This is the way.
In a time when we are all struggling it is awesome to see Mark and Ming-na showing so much caring and compassion. It gives me hope that we will all find a way through this.
Now if we could get Harrison Ford to quit being such a douche and give respect to the movies that made him a star. He is the complete opposite of Mark Hamill in that regards. I appreciate Markβs enthusiasm and love of Star Wars.
This is the way…
I’m 50 and few times in my life have I enjoyed a moment as that one.
So stop crying and go watch it.
No such thing as a spoiler for such a great series. I’ve watched both seasons over 5 times and I still see easter eggs and something new… here’s a suggestion for your spoiler concerns DON’T READ posts on The Mandalorian…. THIS IS THE WAY
“YOU” can control that possibility.
It’s been over 2 weeks, dude. You had more than enough time to watch the episode by now.
Everything mando gets spoiled day of release. Where have you been?
You’re the one at fault here buddy. It is the internet after all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8IAhI-B6UU&t=1m51s
Thatβs not a good argument. If everyone left spoilers out of titles and thumbnails then the internet would be a much better place.
People have to be considerate to those not just currently alive who have not seen it, but also those who arenβt born yet and will become fans in the future.
Agreed, I didnt know Luke was in original Star Wars. Now the movie is ruined for me.
I just finished watching all the Star Wars movies. You will find all your answers there.
Hahahahaha, nice one! I was also shocked to find out HERE that Darth Vader was in Rouge One… I have not seen it yet but now I don’t need to… (Actually, Rogue One is the only Disney Star Wars film I actually like!)
Was a fan of her from Agents of Shield, now am that much more a fan of her. Always awesome to see actors who are actual fans of the series in which they star. Happy to see she’ll be in the spin-off.
(and as a man, can I just say, wow has she aged well. she’s 57?!? she looks maybe 35)
Spoiler period is long since over dude
What? I saw this article, and it would make sense to not read this if you’re avoiding spoilers.
Its too late for a spoiler, i mean c’mon, it was like 3 weeks ago and is ALL over the internet. Pretty sure u just wanted to dog on the writer just to dog on the writer… #PositiveVibesOnlyPlease #TrueFansAreOnTheirSixthedViewingByNow
You should know better dude, all on you and you know it.
heres a thought – if you are that worries about spoilers watch faster or stay off the internet. The world doesn’t stop for you.
Itβs been well over two weeks thatβs your fault buddy
Same. This spoiled the episode for me. I’m pissed.
You’re on the internet, on a pop culture website, reading a Star Wars article, about the show The Mandalorian, you’re inviting spoilers if you haven’t watched it yet.
That guy vampired your energy bro, you just fell straight in that trolls trap
I’ve watched both seasons of the Mandolorian and let me tell you there were plenty of episodes that had me jumping up and down and yelling at the TV, but the episode titled “the rescue” was soooo good I cheered my @$$ off! Cheers to Mark Hamill he deserves it!
Agreed
Agreed…by the end of that episode …from the line ” oh great. One
x-wing…..were saved.” I felt it ….the chill ran up my spine .. My breathing increased unnoticeably at first. But became as evident as a a dog.s pant I stood up i paced I sat down .my eyes locked unblinkingon the screen. My cheeks began to each from the almost joker like smile that had unknowingly stretched across my face. suddenly realized I could no longer hear my rapid breathing at all …when I had begun to hold it…i had no idea. My eye eyes hurt begging me to blink…it was a true Disturbance in the force moment…..followrd a such burst. Of pure unadulterated childlike joy. That immeadiatly crashed into a wall of realization …yYyyyess!!!!! Cheering. Standing up , fists in the air cheering. But that ended so quickly….my eyes desperate request for moister was was granted. In the most excessive way possible. I Gasped for air. Just in time then was plunged Deep into the well of bittersweet tears, and the failed attempts at choking back sobs….i was so upset the the noise of someone blubbering so loudly that I could barely hear the words I knew were coming, ibut when I went to shush this emotional outburst I realized it was me.. I fell silent as the music and My heart swole.
This is the Way……
May the Force be with You…
After a standing ovation of one as my dogs stared confused and I think a little frightened. I dropped back onto the couch in complete popcorn spilling blockbuster exhausted satisfaction….
I m getting to old for this kind of excitement. I m to used to meh level of what passes for sci fi entertainment these days ….feeling that young again…may just kill me.
If so I m ok with that.
But….
..I will haunt Jon Favreau.
Like a giddy fanboy force ghost…
…forever.
And of course, Scarlett Johansson. for completely unrelated reasons
Couldnβt have stated it any better. Thereβs βThe Rescueβ episode and then allllll the others. So good and Mark Hamillβs appearance was the best Christmas present!
I doubt we see Luke again just because of how much work it takes to de-age him and the tech really isn’t there yet to make it look right. If there was a time jump in the show that takes us to the couple of years before The Force Awakens, then we could see Luke again, but that’s a long shot. Would he awesome to have him in the show more often if there was a time jump, but it just makes the age of all the other characters a problem so I don’t think we’ll get to see it happen.
Lol that wasn’t him though
I think they’ve cast someone who looks like him, but I’m not sure
The tech is there. It’s just expensive to do right. Look at the de aging of Logan (Wolverine).
The craziest part is that the technology IS there. Donβt get me wrong I love the show but there are people that do a better job in producing a younger or completely different actor on screen compared to what you saw in The Mandalorian. βCtrl Shift Faceβ is an awesome YouTube channel that shows just that. Disney doesnβt always pick the best person for the job, we all know that, and itβs sad.
The tech isnβt there? How can you say that when the fast and furious franchise made Paul walker who isnβt even alive able to be in 2 more movies π
They have a TV budget for show. If they had a movie budget the graphics would have been a little better.
There is a Luke Skywalker shower in the works so its possible we see him. Just different actor.
Show*
The tech is definitely there, they just didn’t do so good job on it. An example of this kind of drastic change done well is pre-serum Steve Rogers in Captain America: the First Avenger. There was also a video posted to YouTube where a fan did an edit of the Mark Hamill de-aged clip and made look far more real and natural. I think it was more a case of them doing a halfa$$ job and settling.
The deepfake tech is cheap and way better than the de-aging stuff they use at lucasfilms and from the rumours in reading is what they’ll likely start using so I’m sure more luke is on the way..check it out https://youtu.be/wrHXA2cSpNU
Thank you Greg Evans for the wonderful article. I enjoyed it.
Disney please donβt change whatever you are doing on mandalorian.. Thank you and donβt bring realities from this universe into the star wars universe such as political correctness or social issues keep it fantasy like the mandolorian. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Yours truly LOYAL STAR WARS FAN!
I absolutely agree! I don’t want the Star Wars movies and shows to be tainted in any way, shape or form.
Agreed! Excellent show!!!!
PREACH!!!
WTF does that even mean? You don’t think the OT was political? Have you ever read anything George Lucas has ever written about the films? And this diverse cast is the very definition of “PC” that you poor souls find so frightening.
This is awesome!!!!
ABCD – You’ve had plenty time to catch up. Plus, Mark Hamill and Ming-Na both posted it for the world to see. Maybe next time don’t be such a turnip.
Mark Hamill is just the absolute best! I truly truly love Luke Skywalker and am so grateful to see him back in his glory! Please please please, give us more Luke! Thank you Mark Hamill, for bringing Luke to life for all those years…..and hopefully even more!
Say it with me…
LUKE FREAKIN’ SKYWALKER!!!
Finally, he gets the respect he deserves, and we get to see him at his prime. He was stolen from us in that dumpster fire of a trilogy, along with Han and Leia….but The Mandalorian brought him back, and redeemed him beautifully. So glad I didn’t watch any spoilers, and got THE BEST SURPRISE ON TV OF 2020. Keep up the GREAT WORK!!!
Disney is a joke π
This is the way π
I have spoken π
Ming Na Wen is the most beautiful woman in the world.π₯°πΉ
This is amazing and all the vibes are so nice which is why Cara Dune needs to be written out of it or recast.
No reason in the world for trash people to be given the benefit nay blessing(!) of being in this show / family.
Sorry. I don’t hate I just include only awesome people in my circle of I can help it. Same should apply to the Star Wars universe and cast.
I hope Rian Johnson saw that episode and realizes how you treat an icon.
Whatthey did to Luke (aka. Mark’s character) was the crime of the new century. What a waste of the greatest Science Fiction hero’s hero ever conceived. He was the “New Hope!” Luke was the one on “the hero’s journey.” How could the new owners of the greatest SyFy story screw it up so badly. The parallels between Luke and his father; the similar encounters and the divergent choices made, the different roads taken, that was the heart of the Star Wars story. QUICK! before the chance is lost! In one great feat of film making, write, produce, and film a revised final trilogy. Let the last one exist as a story outside reality. Let Luke complete his journey, and fulfil his destiny, what ever it might be. But this time make it worth of the greatest modern mythic hero ever created! Then go on an tell more stories set in the same universe. But in the beginning there was Luke. If you want the future of the Star Wars universe to shine, you must give its original hero the greatest ending ever! The series is flat after the previous trillagy. All the fans feel it. Give Mark story ending he deserves. He is Luke Skywalker!
World between world and the veil of the force baby.
#clickbait
At first, I resisted seeing the Mandalorian after seeing the latest Star Wars Trilogy. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement !!!
Having watched the slowest chase scene, in science fiction history and seeing what the franchise did to Luke Skywalker, I was reluctant, to see The Mandalorian.
I heard stories from my son and read critics reviews about the new series,so I watched the first season and was impressed !!!
WOW !!! The second season was AWESOME !!! Loved the season finale !!!
Even watched the entire Clone War series, the Star Wars Rebel series, to help me catch up with the characters and story lines !!!
Canβt wait to see the Third season !!! Iβm excited again!!!!
Absolute joy! Both my 12 year old son and I loved it.
My whole family aged 12 to 50 was squealing and cheering with delight at the sight of the mechanical
hand. The buildup (is it him? Is it?) was unbelievably well done. Thank you thank you! You gave us back our hero Luke.
It was AWESOME! My boys and I were trying to figure out who it was kicking all that ass! I saw the green light saber and the glove on the right and and jumped an said “It’s LUKE SKYWALKER!”. The boys were like “No it isn’t, Dad!”. I replied”Hey, I grew up with these movies.”. When the truth was revealed, I had a big grin! We talked about it for days! The Mandalorian is one of my favorites! Good job Disney!
I’ve watched both seasons and finally they have linked my adulthood love for the franchise with my childhood love for the franchise cause I grew up on the starwars movies and when I started on this journey with the mandalorian it renewed my love for the franchise
Mar *image of camel* that took me a second
Iβm 72 years old. Iβve followed Star Wars annd brought my children and grandchildren into the fold. Luke was such a positive force ( no pun intended) on generations of minds. I had no idea I would be so moved when I saw that young ,dedicated to the force and the right thing to do / face ( Luke) . It was so so touching. Thank you. My youngest grandchildren were on the fence Star Wars fans. Now. They r fan – antics. It was so moving.
I am 70 yrs old. As of 1977 I had NEVER seen a movie in the theater more than once. And then I saw Star Wars (now added on as The New Hope). 10 times Mrs Bueller, 10 times (1 more than Ferris) before it left the theater. Couldn’t get enough of it. I have watched it a minimum of 2x a year by VHS, DVD, Streaming and the God awful cut up TV program version. I assume other fans I yell at the TV version because they have left out a scene and dialogue that I have to add in my head…it’s not as good. After all these years I still laugh, tear up and cringe at the tension even tho I know what will happen for the upteenth time. Since this comment, I think I will watch Star Wars IV The New Hope now…it’s good time to do so.

GOOD π π DAY π¨ MATE’S! Jon Favreau, Dave Faloni and Creator George Lucas Much π and Respect I Have For All Three of You………… For Giving the Respect and π in The MANDALORIAN Second Season Final. 52 yoa f here and I was jumping up and down, yelling like an idiot. I think, for the occasion, I actually under-reactedπ
My first joyful tear of 2020.Thank you !
Feels good.
Return of the Jedi was the first movie I ever saw in a cinema. I fell in love. So to see Luke had me jumping up and down. Oh. Iβm a 46 woman.
Thank you Greg Evans, I usually go to my trusted YouTubers to get my Star Wars news and content as most media outlets in the last 5 or so years only give fake news or paid by Disney opinions that are not worth my time. You article is clean of shill and straight to the point. So many of us felt shocked and were belittled (some like me, even cyber bullied) for liking Luke Skywalker and for disliking what Lucasfilm did to the character and Star Wars in resent years. #thankyoujohn&dave
In The Mandalorian episodes that describe ‘,The Making Of” they tell why Luke’s CGI was not perfect. If you watched it you would know that they said that in order to keep it a secret they had to do it with the fewest amount of people as quickly as possible so the surprise wouldn’t be spoiled. They admitted that they had the technology but keeping it under wraps was more important.
Just like to know why was the younger Luke Skywalker was in it was it ment to be in the future
The mandalorian is set 7-10 years after Return of the Jedi
I love Star Wars. I am 45 so I was 2 years old the summer of 77. One of my first memories is of Star Wars. It had a huge impact on my childhood. Very thankful we are finally going to see what Star Wars can be. The new shows will be amazing if they follow the original design. I hope they include some of the amazing material called legends now. Wedge Antilles, Corran Horn, Gavin Darklighter, and many other wonderful characters.
If they would just chunk this so called sequel trilogy all would be right with the Force.
I was 5 years old when the first Star Wars came out , thanking βThe Mandalorianβ for keeping that SW fire still lit.
“This is the way”
Waited in line 6 hours to see episode IV the first time. Wished I was there. Have seen and collected every episode since. Hearing the theme music and watching the banner scrolling at the beginning still gives me goosebumps.
I grew up with Star Wars and seeing Luke in the Mandalorian, ooh i was cheering, tapping my feet, clappping my hands, shaking, it was awesome to see Luke be the one to get cutiepie Grogu and take care of him. A tearful season finale. πππππ’ππππππ’ππππ
