After The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, fans all over the galaxy were going crazy about the surprising cameo of Luke Skywalker. After watching Luke take Grogu away for Jedi training it left many fans asking, what’s next? Well, that is a good question. Yes there are RUMORS being reported by Fandom Wire that a new Skywalker series is already in development (I’ll believe it when I see it), but is this a series we need? Here are some arguments on both, why we do and why we don’t need a new Skywalker series.
Why We Need A Luke Skywalker Series
After all the negative fan reactions to the Star Wars Sequels, it seemed like this was never going to be an option. It looked as if many fans were done with with the Skywalker Saga and were ready to move on. Well after The Mandalorian Season 2 fans had a change of heart. Seeing Luke destroying those Dark Troopers and taking Grogu for training made fans not only emotional, but wanting to know what happens next. So here are some reasons why we need a Luke Skywalker series.
Luke Skywalker rebuilding a new Jedi Order
We all know that Luke was trying to build a new Jedi Order, but who was all in it? Now it looks as if Grogu will become one of his students (if he listens), but we know there were others. Where and how did he find these padawans? Also what was their training like? We got a little taste of Luke with his new Jedi Order in the Rise of Kylo Ren Comic, but if you are like me, you want more! Also it will be great to see him grow as a Jedi after the Return of the Jedi.
Luke and Leia Training Together
How neat would it be to see Luke Skywalker and Leia together again? Yes, I know it will not be Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, but if done right I think it would be an amazing story to tell! This would also give us more on Leia becoming the great rebellion leader that she was, and watching her become stronger with the Force.
More Grogu
OK lets be honest. We all know the real reason behind why we need a Luke Skywalker series, more Grogu! Do I really need to go into this more? Since we all know the tragic events that lead to Skywalker exiling himself, we all need to know… IS GROGU ALIVE? Also we know how stubborn Grogu is, so it would be fun to see how his training goes. Things might not go well if he tries to steal cookies from a Force user.
Why We Don’t Need A Luke Skywalker Series
Now that we looked at some of the reasons why we need a Luke Skywalker series, lets take a look at the why nots. Yeah it would be neat to see more about the rise and fall of Luke Skywalker, but do we really need it? Here are a few reasons on why we don’t need a Skywalker series.
The Skywalker Saga Is Over
The Skywalker Saga is over! Well that’s what we thought until we saw the ending of The Mandalorian “The Rescue.” After the Rise of Skywalker, fans were told the Skywalker Saga was done. So most fans were ready to move on to something different; ready to learn about new characters or ones that have left a lot of mystery surrounding them like Boba Fett, Cassian Andor and others.
Do We Really Want New Actors Playing Skywalker?
We all know it will happen at some point, but many fans don’t want to see other actors playing Luke Skywalker, Leia, and others. Yeah there is CGI technology, but is it really the same?
It is Time For New Stories
The great thing is this is already happening. With the announcements of The Bad Batch, Cassian Andor, Ahsoka, and more we are seeing a focus on other supporting characters throughout the Star Wars Universe. Luke had a good run, it is time to see what the others can do.
What Happened To Grogu?
OK this is the worst case scenario, but what if Grogu was killed by Ben Solo? Would fans hold that against Luke Skywalker, making him the most hated Jedi ever? Yeah I know Disney probably wont kill off their cash cow, but you know as well as I do, fans hate Skywalker if they do.
My Final Thoughts
I myself would love to see a new Skywalker series. I think it would be great to learn more about the young Jedi after the fall of the Empire in the Return of the Jedi. After that cameo in The Mandalorian the emotions went out the roof. Give me more Disney, give us all more of this story and the other amazing content that is coming. It is a great time to be a Star Wars fan!
We Want To Hear From You
What are your thoughts, do we need a Luke Skywalker series? If so what would you like to see from it? Also if you don’t, what are your reasons why? Well, That Hashtag Show wants to hear from you!

If it wins back the people who were soured by the sequel trilogy, I say go for it.
I so want to see Ahsoka meet Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Force ghosts of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.
I hope so much that although Ahsoka Tano’s voice can be heard in Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, it does not necessarily mean that she is dead, even though the majority of the Jedi that we do hears are dead. But if she really died in Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker I hope, not only is it good after her quest with Sabine to find Ezra Bridger, but that it is not by being killed by an enemy, but something something similar to the death of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, or Ben Solo.
I would have liked Ahsoka Tano to become a Jedi again after the founding of the New Jedi Order by Luke Skywalker, as that would mean that her pain when she left the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars is well healed. Indeed when she left the Jedi Order, she was very upset because she had lost confidence in the Jedi who did not believe in her innocence (except for her master Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi) even after they admitted their wrongdoing and offered to reinstate her.
I would love to see Ahsoka with Rex come back to the moon near the graves of the clone troopers with other characters including Luke, Leia, Han, Lando and Chewie.
