Update: March 6th
It seems as if some sites out there are reporting the same news that we had in December that’s listed below. Giant Freakin Robot has a scoop that Luke Skywalker is getting his own series. But, that’s the same news as December. So go figure. They have a time frame of between Return of the Jedi and when he chose to exile himself on Ahch-To. So that’s all we’ve got to update. Read below for more information on the original story in December.
Original Story From December, 2020
If you saw the season finale for The Mandalorian, you know exactly what Star Wars fans are freaking out about. What seemed like a small cameo from a character during the show, might turn out to be something much larger. FandomWire is reporting that a Luke Skywalker series is in development. Now that’s a pretty loaded term, and let’s break down what it means.
In development does not mean it’s going to shooting. In development means that the ideas are being tossed around, they might be having writers working on the preliminary sketches of the series. That’s it. So while this might be exciting news, it’s by no means a sure thing. That’s why we’re simply calling it a rumor for right now.
The fan reaction to Luke’s big scene in the season finale was gargantuan. If you love Star Wars, you loved the episode. That’s really what I can draw from it. Now the other issue is that it was an actor with “de-aging” technology in the episode. So, this doesn’t mean that Mark Hamill is coming back. But if the technology gets better in the time from this rumor to an actual show, who knows. Right now this is pure speculation on the original source’s part.
So, what do you think about this? Would you want to see a post-Return of the Jedi, pre-Sequel Trilogy Luke Skywalker show?
If it’s anything like the Luke we saw in that season finale, then I’ll say yes.
For more on this rumor as it develops, we’ll keep you updated at That Hashtag Show.
I would rather see a de aged Luke or a animated Luke voiced by mark hammel then someone else playing him in live action.
To be honest a live action Luke with mark now would be the best. Just as long as it’s a different timeline than the sequel trilogy
