We know Marvel loves a crossover. (And so do Marvel fans.) Tessa Thompson just confirmed you can expect to see some familiar faces from within the MCU appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Thompson plays Valkyrie, who takes over as King of New Asgard in the upcoming Thor sequel. During an interview with The Playlist, she confirmed fans will see additional Marvel characters in the movie.
“I’d say there’s some cool stuff going on,” said Thompson. “We have some new characters; we have some folks potentially from other pockets of the MCU. And then we have some folks, maybe, that we’ve seen before.”
Besides Thor himself (Chris Hemsworth), we also know Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will feature in the film. (Jane is set to become Mighty Thor, a story familiar to comic fans.) Plus, a familiar face from the first two Thor movies returns. Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role as Lady Sif.
As far as characters from “other pockets of the MCU,” we do know Thor will have a bit of a Guardians of the Galaxy crossover. Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord is set to appear in the film. And during Disney Investor Day, the studio announced Christian Bale would appear as Gorr the God Butcher.
Which, now that I’m writing it out, is already quite a few MCU characters in the works for Thor: Love and Thunder. Still, I can’t help but feel like with Thompson’s comments, fans can expect even more surprises from the next Thor movie.
So, what do you think about Thompson’s statement? Do you think she was teasing the characters we already know about, or do you think Thor: Love and Thunder has even more secrets to unpack? Who would you want to see in the movie? Let us know in the comments.
