Today’s investor meeting was chock full of content! With updates to works already in progress and breaking news about upcoming projects.
With everything covered let’s break this down into franchise/companies so you don’t get swept away
Star Wars
The team at Lucasfilm are hard at work with multiple titles under the Star Wars Banner
Starting on the small screen we have confirmation that the third season of The Mandolorian is slated for a Christmas 2021 release. The Mandolorian has changed the shape of how we look at the Star Wars landscape and because of it, we are getting not one but TWO new spin-off series! All we know so far is we are getting an Ahsoka series and Rangers of the New Republic. For the Ahsoka fans, we don’t know just yet when in her story this will be taking place but we will all be eagerly waiting for whatever info we can get!
Oh But That’s Just The Tip Of The Lightsaber
In addition, we got some new information about other shows happening in the galaxy far far away. That smooth talking scoundrel Lando Calrissian is going to get his on event series on Disney+. Speaking of Disney plus it was announced that the youngling slayer himself, Hayden Christensen returns as Darth Vader in the upcoming Kenobi series!
The Disney+ lineup doesn’t stop there we are getting a new spin or a “Vision” of the universe we have come to love. Star Wars Visions will be a new graphic take on the Jedi and Sith employing some of the great Anime houses of Japan!
On the Sith side of the force, we are getting “The Acolyte” showing the shady Darkside of the final days of the high republic! Speaking of “bad things” let’s not forget about “The Bad Batch” the oddballs of the clone wars named in honor of one of the bravest clones ever #99.
But that’s not the only trailer we got! Check out this sizzle real of the new Andor series that just started production recently!
Lastly, since we are talking about things from the big screen it was announced that Patti Jenkins. Yes the same Patti Jenkins from DC’s Wonder Woman will be directing STAR WARS ROGUE SQUADRON.
There’s more with Droids and even a film by Taika Waititi film you can check out the full list of Star Wars announcements HERE.
Marvel
Kevin Feige himself hosted this segment going over how connected both the small and big screens of the MCU will affect each other!
Since it’s coming out first check out the new trailer for WandaVision.
There is so much to download from this trailer once again it is mindboggling! Finally, we get to see Monica Rambeau too! we already know that this will lead into Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness
After Wanda and Vision hit the small screen we get another duo in the form of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier soon in March.
But it doesn’t stop there we all know the God of Mischief is getting his own series premiering just two months after Falcon and Winter Soldier. Warning the trailer will leave you with a bunch of questions!
Speaking of Green heroes, She-Hulk will be starring Tatiana Maslany as Jen Walters as she deals with being a working professional that happens to be a 7-foot tall green-skinned lawyer. Obviously, you cant have She-Hulk without a Hulk around as Mark Ruffalo will return. Even more exciting Tim Roth who played Abomination will reprise his role after 12 years! Feige also mentioned that in Jen’s line of work we will be getting some interesting cameos from other characters in the Marvel Universe she will represent in court.
Marvel is certainly bringing it when it comes to the Disney+ platform we even got a peek into Kamala Kahn’s new series Ms. Marvel. Feige also confirmed that Monica Rambeau from WandaVision and Ms. Marvel will also tie into Captain Marvel 2.
As Feige was wrapping up talking about how everything is connected in the MCU you could say it’s like a “family” and if you’re going to talk about Marvel and families you can’t forget to talk about the First Family of Marvel. The Fantastic Four was confirmed to be on the slate!
Animation
The laundry list of animation is lengthy, to say the least. For the small screen, we are getting a ton of new series including Baymax, Moana, Tiana, Zootopia, Cars, and even Up are all getting spinoffs. The new series set in futuristic Africa called Iwájú is a joint project between Disney and the African entertainment-based company, Kugali.
One of the biggest series I’m interested in is the new WHAT IF? series. I believe this is the first time we get a Watcher in a main role in the MCU. This series will be a bunch of exactly that “WHAT IF’s” to see a character or story from a different perspective.
We lastly received a message from Star Command about an origin story of a particular Space Ranger. LIGHTYEAR is going to star Chris Evans lending his vocal talents to the titular character.
What an amazing time to be alive! All this entertainment will be available in the next few years and the best part is that Disney is pacing itself so you don’t go thru any withdrawal!
