The launch of Disney+ has brought us some new fantastic shows. Shows like The Mandalorian to Encores, The Imagineering Story, and even High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!
Set in East High School, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a fun and entertaining mockumentary drama. It’s about a group of high school students and their teachers trying to put on this year’s Musical – High School Musical: The Musical! It was quickly renewed for a second season.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed plans. Season two was delayed from late 2020 until 2021. Even though a new date has yet to be announced for the series, we do have a Holiday Special. We can get excited for the High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special coming to Disney+ December 11th! The Holiday Special shows our favorite Wild Cats coming together to get us into the Holiday Spirit. It also gives us a sneak peek of the opening number for Season 2!
Some Wild Outside Circumstances For High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special
High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special is a 45 min variety show. It stars Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders. The cast is tremendously talented and they sing and dance to some of the best Holiday songs out there.
On top of all that, we get to hear an acoustic version of an original number written and performed by Joshua Bassett who plays Richard Bowen on the show. Bassett is no stranger to writing music for the series. This is the 2nd song he has written following the season 1 ballad, “Just for a Moment”, which he wrote along with Olivia Rodrigo.
That’s not all however. On top of the fabulous musical numbers the cast shares personal holiday memories, their most embarrassing presents, favorite traditions, and even play trivia about each other making High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special.
