Well that’s a good way to keep people interested in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The release date for Season One content for the game was originally December 10th. The official reason for the delay to December 16th is that they wanted more time to work on it, but I think we all know there’s a Cyberpunk 2077 sized hole in that logic. But we can all wait a week. In the meantime there’s going to be double double XP on weapons and gameplay from December 12th until Season One launches.
That’s not the only thing that’s coming to Black Ops Cold War though. As you can see in that trailer above, it looks like Alcatrazz from Modern Warfare is getting an update. WarZone isn’t the only new thing that’s seeing an update though. We’re getting new multiplayer maps, 2v2 Gunfight maps, and a new Fireteam (Ground War) map.
Black Ops Cold War is getting two updates in the coming weeks, one on December 8th, which is likely a smaller update for quality of life, bugs, and maybe weapon balancing. The big one, however is December 16th, that’s the Season One update to the game. For the first time in a long time, it feels like we’re getting a living, breathing, Call of Duty game. Modern Warfare had too few and small updates. Black Ops 4 was halted by Treyarch being forced to start work on Black Ops Cold War early.
