After the death of Chadwick Boseman earlier this year, the future of Black Panther was in doubt. Who would fill the impossible shoes of him? We still don’t know exactly who’s going to do that, whether it’s Shuri or M’Baku, but we do know when the film is going to begin production. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther 2 is starting production in July of next year.
The untitled sequel directed by Ryan Coogler begins production in Atlanta next year and is set for a pretty length six month stay. It’s part of an overall INCREDIBLY busy 2021 for Marvel. Because they had no releases in 2020, the schedule is tight. Spider-Man 3 is filming as we speak. Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and a multitude of Disney+ shows are all releasing or filming in 2021. So you have a cramped schedule that is throwing a wrench into the plans of Marvel.
Now we don’t know any of the plot points of the upcoming sequel, we do know that Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are all returning for this film.
