HBO Max is filling out the Peacemaker team.
The action-comedy series from The Suicide Squad writer/director James Gunn announced four cast members today. Here’s who joined the series:
- Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) as Leota Adebayo
- Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) as Auggie Smith
- Chris Conrad (Patriot) as Vigilante/Adrian Chase
- Jennifer Holland (American Horror Story) as Emilia Harcourt
As you can see, Holland will reprise her role from The Suicide Squad. She joins previously announced stars John Cena and Steve Agee in participating in both the film and the Peacemaker series.
Gunn will write all eight episodes of the DC series. He will also direct multiple episodes, including the pilot. Gunn executive produces the series alongside Peter Safran. Cena also holds a co-EP title.
“Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag. I’m excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series. And of course, to be able to work again with John, Peter, and my friends at Warner Bros. is the icing on the cake,” said Gunn.
While specific details about the series are being kept under wraps, we can expect it to explore the origins of Cena’s The Suicide Squad character. Peacemaker is a man who believes in peace at any cost – no matter how many people he has to kill to achieve it. We can probably speculate more about what to expect from Peacemaker after The Suicide Squad drops. (That’s planned for August 6, 2021.)
Until then, check back to THS for more updates on DC projects.
