HBO Max continues to expand its Cartoon Network partnership with upcoming animated series Unicorn: Warriors Eternal.

The supernatural series dives into myths and lore from across the world. It follows a team of ancient heroes working together to save the world from an ominous force. Oh, and those heroes used to be unicorns. Now, they’re stuck in the bodies of teenagers with a gap in their memories and weakened powers. (Sounds like that’s going to make saving the world a little more difficult.)

Unicorn: Warriors Eternal comes from Emmy Award winning creator and animator Genndy Tartakovsky. Tartakovsy’s a Cartoon Network alum. He created the popular shows Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack.

Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Kids content, expressed the studio’s excitement to work with Tartakovsky again.

“Welcoming Genndy back to Cartoon Network, and now HBO Max, was the perfect opportunity to introduce a new generation of fans to his visionary work and this one-of-a-kind series that offers something for everyone in the family,” said Ascheim.

Unicorn: Warriors Eternal is one of several new series ordered by HBO Max as it expands its animation programming.

“Unicorn: Warriors Eternal is going to be crazy cool and I can’t wait for people to see it,” Tartakovsky said. “Twenty-five years ago Dexter’s Laboratory was Cartoon Network’s first original series. It launched an incredible creative relationship that continued to prosper throughout the years. Today, I am so proud and honored to be able to create an animated series for HBO Max and Cartoon Network, and start a new relationship, fostering more bold and original storytelling.”
