What do you get when you combine a Boogeyman with a secret society of babysitters on Halloween night? A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting.
The upcoming family-friendly flick hits Netflix in just a few weeks. In A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, high school freshman Kelly agrees to babysit Jacob on Halloween. An easy enough job, right?
But then a Boogeyman kidnaps Jacob. And Kelly gets recruited into a secret society of babysitters who protect kids with special powers from monsters. So maybe there’s a little more to this gig than she planned.
Watch the trailer below for your first look at A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting.
This movie looks a little bit Babysitter’s Club, a little bit Spy Kids, and a final dash of Don’t Look Under the Bed. Hopefully, those familiar elements will combine into some good spooky fun for the whole family.
The film stars Tamara Smart (The Worst Witch) as Kelly, babysitting Ian Ho (The Handmaid’s Tale). Former Harry Potter star Tom Felton plays the Boogeyman known as “The Grand Guignol”. The other members of the babysitter’s secret organization are played by Oona Laurence, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Lynn Masako Cheng, and Ty Consiglio. Plus, Indya Moore appears as a glamorous witch named Peggy Drood.
Genre TV veteran Rachel Talalay (Doctor Who, The Flash) directs the film. It is based on Joe Ballarini’s book series of the same name.
A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting hits Netflix October 15.
