If you’re still bitter about never getting that Hogwarts acceptance letter…well, your time has finally come.
Warner Bros. Games just announced Hogwarts Legacy, an open-world single-player RPG sure to thrill Harry Potter fans. Players will dive into the wizarding world in the 1800s, enrolling at Hogwarts and embarking on magical adventures.
Check out the trailer reveal for the game below.
Hogwarts Legacy promises all the magic of the Harry Potter universe combined with the flexibility of an open-world RPG. The immersive magical experience lets players choose the witch or wizard they want to be. They will grow their character’s abilities by mastering powerful spells and honing their combat abilities.
The game promises players will also encounter “missions and scenarios that will pose difficult choices and determine what they stand for.” In other words, it sounds like you’ll be able to harness your powers for evil, if that’s what you’re into.
In addition to Hogwarts itself, fans can visit familiar locations like the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade village.
Avalanche developed the game, published by Warner Bros. under its Portkey Games label.
“Hogwarts Legacy is so special because it allows players to immerse themselves in a new narrative that is filled with complex characters, and, of course, magic,” said John Blackburn of Avalanche. “It’s such an honor to work on such an amazing franchise.”
The game releases in 2021 and can be played on the following:
- PlayStation 4 and 4 Pro
- Playstation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- XboxOne
- PC
