With the pandemic leaving a lot of film and TV entertainment up in the air, we’ve finally got some good news for Marvel fans. WandaVision will still hit Disney+ this year.
The streamer confirmed the news in a recent tweet. The clip showcased footage from a number of titles headed to the platform in the coming months, including season 2 of The Mandalorian.
The clip didn’t give us any new footage from WandaVision, unfortunately. However, the title card was included in the clip and the text of the tweet specifically referenced the show. So, we can be pretty confident plans for WandaVision are still on track.
Disney didn’t provide a specific premiere date for the series. Since The Mandalorian premieres October 30, the Star Wars series will carry the platform through November. So, it seems safe to assume WandaVision will drop closer to the end of the year.
WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the MCU. The series follows Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), two superpowered beings living their ideal suburban life. But everything isn’t as idealistic as it seems…
More Marvel Shakeups
Keeping WandaVision for 2020 will make the show Disney+’s first live-action Marvel series debut. But that’s an honor that had been planned for another series: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The Avengers: Endgame followup series originally planned to drop back in August. Unfortunately, after COVID-19 delayed production, the show was pushed back. Series star Anthony Mackie recently tweeted about returning to set though, so Marvel fans need not worry too much. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still happening.
Of course, movie theater closures have affected Marvel’s blockbuster film slate too. Recent reports suggest Disney may once again push back the release of Black Widow. The Scarlet Johannson led flick currently plans a November 6 theatrical debut.
With so many MCU properties up in the air, it’s nice to get even the slightest confirmation about WandaVision. But which Marvel series or movie are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments.
