If you haven’t heard of Jonathan Majors yet, after 2020, you’ll know exactly who he is. He’s the star of Lovecraft County and Da 5 Bloods by Spike Lee. While it’s not 100% clear what his role will be, Deadline is reporting that he’s on tap for the villain of the film. He’ll be starring alongside Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd for the yet to be titled sequel. He could be in line to play the supervillain Kang the Conqueror.
Peyton Reed, who directed the first two Ant-Man films is returning to that position. Jeff Loveness is writing the script and Kevin Feige is producing the film. There’s no word on what Kang the Conqueror will do in the Ant-Man film. Nevertheless, this is a huge opportunity for Jonathan Majors to build up his profile in the national eye.
Kang is usually a villain reserved for The Avengers, Thor, or Spider-Man in the comics. He’s a time-traveler that was also included on the list of “Top 7 MCU Characters That Giancarlo Esposito Could Play“. So you can cross that one off the list. The MCU finds ways to take old characters and brighten them up or modernize them. So, you’re likely to see a variation on Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man 3.
Ant-Man 3 has a tentative release date of 2022. So, what do you think of Jonathan Majors casting in the film?
