Spooky season is nearly upon us, and Netflix is getting us ready with the first teaser for The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Bly Manor acts as the next chapter in Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting anthology series. In 2018, The Haunting of Hill House achieved widespread approval from both critics and audiences. Now, Netflix hopes for continued success with this next installment.
The Haunting of Hill House adapted Shirley Jackson’s gothic horror novel of the same name. Similarly, The Haunting of Bly Manor will adapt another gothic novel: Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw.
The story follows an American governess who takes a new job as an au pair in 1980s England – after the previous au pair’s tragic death. The governess (Victoria Pedretti) takes care of two orphaned children. But more than one spirit haunts Bly Manor. And the children know more than they’re letting on…

A few former Hill House co-stars join Pedretti in the upcoming series. Henry Thomas plays the children’s uncle and head of Bly Manor, Henry Wingrave. Kate Siegel will also appear in a yet unspecified role.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen also stars as someone named Peter. Details about his role haven’t been released. However, The Turn of the Screw features one Peter Quint, another Bly Manor employee. It seems safe to assume Jackson-Cohen’s Peter and Peter Quint are one and the same. (As someone who’s read the novel, I’ll leave out the spoilers of his significance for now!)
While Netflix previously confirmed Bly Manor would drop this fall, we now have confirmation of the exact date. You can venture into Bly Manor on October 9.
