Warning! Possible spoilers for the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and The Mandalorian Season 2 are ahead!
A YouTube channel called Kessel Run Transmissions says that a source has told it big news about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show… And throw in some information related to The Mandalorian Season 2 as well. According to the report, Darth Vader, Hayden Christensen, Commander Cody and the 212th Attack Battalion will all appear in the upcoming Kenobi show. They’ll join the show’s star Ewan McGregor.
The plot of the Kenobi show fill focus on the search for Kenobi:
It’s very much a hunting-down-Obi-Wan-Kenobi series.
KRT’s Corey Van Dyke
Kenobi series to feature Clone Wars call-backs
Further, there will be a “heavy, heavy emphasis” on Clone Wars flashbacks in the show. IF rumors are true, they’ll feature Hayden Christensen as Anakin clad in his Clone Wars armor. That’s something many fans have wanted, including, it seems, KRT’s Noah Outlaw. He said that he thought the rumors are “too perfect.” Likewise, “[i]t feels like a dream” to Van Dyke, as well.
Also, “an advertisement-only scene of Ahsoka (Tano) meant for Mandalorian marketing” – Van Dyke believes it’s a Mandalorian trailer – is on tap. In it we’ll see Ahsoka fighting two characters. According to KRT’s source, Ahsoka Tano (rumored to be played by Rosario Dawson) looks “great.”
With respect to Vader: it’s always tremendously exciting to see Vader on-screen. It would be even more so to see him in the Kenobi show.
Vader returning to the screen in Star Wars spin-off series?
We’ve been fortunate to see it in recent years in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars Rebels. His mask, voice and breathing also featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Van Dyke and Outlaw talked about how it’s rather possible that Vader and Kenobi will fight. They further discussed that how it wouldn’t disrupt Star wars continuity. (Vader and Kenobi, of course, having fought in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.) They also talked about how Vader mentions Kenobi to Emperor Sheev Palpatine in Rebels, as it seems clear that Vader wants to go after Kenobi.
Hayden Christensen, of course, played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. It would be great to see him in the Star Wars galaxy again. The same goes for Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett and later Commander Cody in the prequels. As KRT’s Noah Outlaw said, “Cody and Obi-Wan have that history.” It should be interesting to see how their relationship further develops now that Cody and Obi-Wan are on opposite sides, rather than the same side when they were friends.
The 212th Attack Battalion promises anything from more trooper action to exploring the humanity behind the clones. Regardless of how they will be used, it promises to be interesting.
The plot is what gets me most excited!
I hadn’t even considered how many individuals, from Cody to Vader, would be after Kenobi and that is rather intriguing. I wondered how the show was going to play out given that Kenobi was watching over a baby from afar on a lonely desert planet. While I was still thrilled about the show because of my love for Kenobi (he’s my favorite film character), I didn’t understand what would make the show compelling. I considered that maybe side missions that periodically took Kenobi off Tatooine would be the answer. “The hunt for Obi-Wan” promises some of the best television out there!
To see Ahsoka Tano – let alone in live-action form, let alone fighting – will be a thrill. If we only knew when to expect it …
