Both Halloween and Evil Dead are arriving in special SteelBook Blu-Ray editions next month. If you’re a horror fan you won’t want to miss out on adding these to your collection.
Check out the full details for each release below.
The Halloween SteelBook
John Carpenter’s original 1978 horror classic Halloween comes to SteelBook with a new design featuring its two leads. The front cover features the masked Michael Myers with a knife. The back shows Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. The design weaves together the two with a flow of autumn leaves.
Since Halloween was released on 4K fairly recently, it’s unlikely this edition will include any updated bonus features. But if you missed the 2018 edition, these features will presumably be included in the 4K SteelBook release. 2018 features included:
- Audio commentary with writer/director John Carpenter and actor Jamie Lee Curtis
- “The Night She Came Home” Featurette
- “On Location: 25 Years Later” Featurette
- TV version footage
- Promotional materials including a trailer, TV and radio spots
The Halloween SteelBook can be pre-ordered from Best Buy for $19.99. It should ship by the end of September.
The Evil Dead SteelBook
Also getting the SteelBook treatment: Evil Dead. This one is actually a package deal, including Evil Dead (1981) and Evil Dead 2 (1987).
The SteelBook package features Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, bloodied up and brandishing a chainsaw against the clawing hands of the Dead. The rear cover has Ash with his axe, backlit by the moon.
No details yet on any included special features. However, fans probably shouldn’t expect any new content with this one.
The Evil Dead SteelBook package can be pre-ordered from Best Buy for $27.99. It should ship by the end of September.
