Taika Waititi recently confirms that he’s just started writing for a new Star Wars movie. The details about this new movie are still in the air, but at least production has started. Sort of.

Taika Waititi's take on Star Wars?
Maybe he’ll do better than Kathleen Kennedy.

Kiwi Troll is on the Job!

We recently got confirmation that Taika Waititi will be directing a new Star Wars movie. We have no idea what the cast will be, when the release date is, or even what it’s about. All we know is that in a recent interview with BBC, Waititi just said “We’re writing.”. As for what this new movie is about? His answer that wasn’t really an answer was “This is you: ‘Here’s a question…Star Wars?’ How am I supposed to answer that? Yes.” Ah yes, Waititi the Troll is at work again.

Waititi=best troll evah!
The Kiwi Troll strikes again.

Taika Waititi’s previous work on Star Wars though, seems to suggest that he’ll do a good job this time. Waititi had previously directed the final episode of The Mandalorian: “Chapter 9: Redemption”. I think you’ll all agree with me when I say that episode is one of the best ones, yeah? Funnily enough, Waititi also played IG-11 in that same series, who has become one of the best droid characters in Star Wars history. So yeah, I think Waititi’s going to do a good job on this new unnamed Star Wars movie.

Waititi as bomb-happy droid.
AKA: “Will you stop trying to self-destruct already?!”

Lastly, while we know that Disney has 3 Star Wars movies lined up for Decembers of 2022, 2024, and 2026; we have no idea which of those movies is Waititi’s. Actually, we don’t even know if any of these movies are actually Waititi’s. It’s entirely possible that none of them are, and we’ll have to wait even longer to see what he comes up with for the Star Wars universe. We’ll just have to wait a bit for official news.

Conclusion

Taika Waititi will be directing a new Star Wars movie, and he’s writing for it. Unfortunately, that’s all we’re getting out of him for today, and not one word more. We’ll just have to wait for official news from Disney if we want to learn more about this.
