Fleabag stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott will reunite in HBO’s His Dark Materials.
Andrew Scott previously joined the cast as John Parry, Will’s father. Fans only saw a picture of him in the first season, but his character will play a bigger role in season 2.
During the San Diego Comic-Con panel for His Dark Materials, Scott announced for the first time that his daemon would be played by none other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
In the world of His Dark Materials, people have daemons, an animal companion that is the physical manifestation of one’s inner self or soul. The relationship between people and their daemons is one of the most important in the series.
Scott said he was “thrilled” to have his daemon played by Waller-Bridge.
“[The relationship between people and daemons] is all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life. So it’s wonderful that’s happening,” said Scott.
Scott previously starred in the second season of Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag, playing opposite her as the “Hot Priest.”
His co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays Lee Scoresby, said he spent most of his time filming with Scott during Fleabag‘s surge in popularity.
“You have no idea what it’s like to be in a hot air balloon with Andrew Scott when Fleabag is peaking in the United States. People I haven’t heard from in years kept saying ‘You’re in a balloon with Hot Priest!’”
